October Randomness

There are some fleeting moments when the twins are so sweet and so cute together, and I was fortunate enough to catch them cuddling up with each other in their new bunk beds.

NERDS!  I made them "glasses" out of pipe cleaners

We've had a few off-roading adventures this summer/fall in our giant family Mormon mobile.  Here we are above Timberline.

We got to visit a few abandoned mines. Tiernan was so disappointed that we didn't find any gold.

Cameron has had a bummer of a month.  In the middle of October Tiernan was helping Ethan with a trailer and he dropped the ramp on Cameron's foot.  So, we got to spend the rest of the day at urgent care to discover that his foot was broken.  We were SO thankful that the ramp missed his head because that could have been really bad.  I'm also thankful that I wasn't there to witness the accident.  Cameron has been such a trooper though.  He just crawls all over the house and rides in his wheelchair at school.  I think really the only time he's been sad is when he has to miss out on fun stuff like recess and PE.   Just today he got out of the hard cast and gets to be in a walking cast, so he is so pumped!  Hopefully he'll only have to be in the cast for two more weeks.

At the end of October we made a special trip to Grand Junction to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday.  My mom planned a big surprise party for him with a bunch of family friends.  It was fun to celebrate my dad and get to see a lot of people I hadn't seen in years.
Zane just crawled right up and cuddled with Jacob while they were watching a movie.  He was so patient and didn't even seem to notice.

Tiernan was so proud of the card that he made for Grandpa.

Happy Halloween!

Well, unfortunately Halloween happens every year and as usual I'm a huge crab about it.  The boys did get super excited about it, so that was fun, but it's a bummer that they're starting to have opinions about their costumes, and aren't satisfied with the millions of costumes in our costume box.

A few weeks before, we made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch, and this year we went early enough that there was still a good selection of pumpkins to choose from.

It was a beautiful day!  As you can tell by the squinty eyes that I made the boys look into whilst I took a picture.  Are you impressed by my usage of the word "whilst?"

I made Ethan carve the pumpkins this year.  He was super excited about it. I think all of them hated getting their hands yucky, so Ethan ended up gutting all 7 pumpkins.  Lucky him!

Holden was my little monkey.  It's so fun that all the boys have worn that costume.

He did so good riding around in the wagon.  I thought for sure since he's walking that he wouldn't last, but he stayed in there the whole time!

The big boys barely got their costumes in time!  I ordered them back at the beginning of October, but since the dinosaur one was back ordered, it just got to our house on the 29th.  Yikes.  So fortunately they were able to wear their costumes to school.

Time with the little boys

I've really been enjoying my time with my littlest ones since the bigger boys started school.  It's so strange to say that I "only" have 3 and it feels like such a relief!  We're not quite there yet, but I'm starting to feel braver each day about going out in public by myself and we've even made a few Target runs!  Hopefully the older that Holden gets it will get easier and easier.  What will I do when it's JUST Holden??

Look at these sweet boys in the tub!

Oh my goodness, I have been so terrible about taking pictures of Holden!  He is at the perfect toddler age right now too!  He is able to take steps all by himself, but still lacks confidence and often gives up and sits down because he's afraid of falling on the hard floor.  I can't blame him!

Not sure why these are popping up in the middle, but Cameron lost his first tooth!  He and big brother were totally messing around one evening and big brother kicked him and knocked his tooth out.  Well, that's one way to do it!  He has another one that's loose now that needs to come out, and he won't let me pull it, so I was teasing him that we need to have Tiernan kick him in the face again!

We got to watch the sheep being sheared out at the farm the other day.  Man, what a workout!  I'm sure those sheep felt so much better after getting all that weight (and heat!) cut off.  The twins were so cute and so good about being quiet while watching.

This little stinker snuck into the pantry one day while I was showering.  He was so proud of himself for getting a box of cereal and eating a snack.  I did not appreciate having to clean up all the crumbs scattered all over the floor, but how can I resist such a sweet face?

Starting School

My mom and grandma were able to come over for a few days right before school started.  It was so fun to have them here, and the boys loved being spoiled by having all the attention.
We had a TON of zucchini in our fridge from a friend, so we decided to do the healthy thing and make a cake out of it.  The boys wanted to be helpers to Grandma....

Tiernan started 2nd grade this year.  He looks all smiles in the pictures, but it was totally traumatic.  I was having flashbacks of Kindergarten because when we dropped him off, he cried and clung to me, and said he didn't want to go.  Oh geez.  He did fine the second day of school; I think it was just the unknown that freaked him out.

And here's our big Kindergartener.  He, on the other hand, was SOOOOO excited and couldn't wait to start.  When we were waiting on the playground he kept asking, "So, when are you going to leave?"  Like he couldn't wait to get rid of us.  I cried buckets when we left Tiernan because he made me feel so bad, and Cameron just hugged me and waved goodbye, so it was so much easier.  Phew!

It's going to be a great year!
