Welcome to the World, Holden!

The newest addition to our family made his appearance last Thursday.  Holden Luke weighed in at a whopping 8 lbs. 12 oz., and was 21 inches long.
I woke up around 3:30 AM to pretty strong contractions that were 3-5 minutes apart.  I was trying to stay calm, because this little stinker baby had done this before: I'd have regular contractions for a couple hours and then they'd just stop.  After about an hour of this, I woke up Ethan because these contractions were quite a bit stronger than the ones I'd had before.  After this had gone on for a about 2 hours, we decided to call the OB.  She said to come in to the hospital right away because I tested positive for Group B Strep, and they needed to treat that for 4 hours before I should have the baby.  So we rushed over to the hospital and they hooked me up to all the monitors.  After spending all morning at the hospital, my contractions were not getting any more consistent, and even though I had dilated from a 3-4, the nurses decided to let me leave and go over to my Dr. to have her check me, and make a decision about what to do next.  So by the time we got over to my Dr., I had dilated to a 5, and she sent me back to the hospital, saying that she'd break my water. So back over we went to the hospital, and they started my treatment for the the GBS.  My contractions did get stronger and stronger, but still were not consistent (3-8 minutes apart.)  I kept telling everyone that if they'd just break my water, this process would go so much faster!  But of course no one is in a hurry except the pregnant lady!  About 7 pm I got an epidural, and between 7:30-8:00 they broke my water.  A little while later I felt a little bit of pressure "down there" and asked to be checked.  Sure enough, it was time to push!  In rushed my OB and all the nurses to help out.  This was the smoothest delivery ever!  I only had to push a couple of times, and out he came!  So after 18 hours of labor, Mr. Cozzens arrived at 9:24 pm.  Here are some pictures of our time at the hospital.  It was so weird that we only had to be there for a few days, rather than two weeks, like with the twins.

This is right after he came out of my tummy:

We had Holden at PVH in Fort Collins, because we are so much closer to it than Loveland, where the other boys were born.  This hospital is really big on skin-to-skin time immediately following birth, so we got 2 hour window of cuddling immediately after he was born that was relatively uninterrupted.

Look at that chubby face!  I was so shocked when they told me he was almost 9 lbs!  Our other boys were only 6 lbs. and 5 lbs., so I didn't think I could grow babies that big.

On Friday, the big brothers got to meet their little brother.  Tiernan especially has been so enamored by Holden.  He always asks to hold him and help take care of him.  It's pretty cute and I'm trying to enjoy the honeymoon stage where they think he's great.

This is the only picture with all five, and Cameron's head is blurry :)

On our way home from the hospital.  We are so so thankful and blessed to be parents once again.  I am so happy to have another healthy baby boy.  What a blessing!
